FAQ

Who are Fat  Cow Escapes breaks for?

We award holidays to families who have a seriously ill child, families who have been recently bereaved (child or parent) and families with a parent who is terminally ill.

How does it work?

The idea is very simple. Many holiday homes, even the most popular ones, are unoccupied for several weeks a year. We have asked the owners of these properties to donate one or two of these 'empty weeks' to families who would really benefit from some time away. We list details of the properties online and circulate to social workers and medical teams within the area. Families must be nominated by an NHS medical professional or registered charity social worker. It is not possible for a family to make arrangements for a break without being nominated first. These breaks are free of charge. Travel expenses are not covered.

Who can come on holiday?

Usually it is just immediate family members. However, depending on family circumstances and the individual property, grandparents may be able to go too.
